Food Bank Recipes Project
Organization Information:
Share information about your organization and programs to give volunteers of how their work will support the community.
Ex. Put your new quarantine cooking skills to the test. Work with your team to put together a recipe book to be distributed at food banks. While food banks are a great resource for the community, the variety of items distributed is often limited, so clients must make do with what’s available. Instructions for Volunteers:
- Work with your team to collect [##] recipes that use the following five ingredients commonly found at food banks: ADD INGREDIENTS
- Compile recipes into one document, with one recipe per page. Make sure the formatting (font size, recipe style, etc.) is consistent to make the recipe book easier to read.
- If you’re able to, print XX copies of the recipe book and send to ADDRESS, or you can send the finished book as a PDF to EMAIL.
Extra Tips for Volunteers:
- Get creative! Add visuals, tips and tricks, notes from your team about the recipes, or fun cover art.
- Think about what you like when using a cookbook: pictures, format of recipe, etc.
- Recipes can come from your team’s own knowledge/family recipes, or from internet research. If using a recipe you found online or in a cookbook, make sure to credit the author.
- Try to include a variety of recipes to accommodate various diets (vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.)
- There are lots of websites that can help you find recipes using specific ingredients. Try com, supercook.com, recipeland.com, or myfridgefood.com.
