Who We Are

We were founded by two queer disabled community members who have lived through homelessness, poverty, and the failures of broken systems. This work is rooted in lived experience and a deep commitment to care. One of us comes from a background in crisis response, grassroots organizing, and direct service in shelters and day centers. The other brings experience in open-source technology, systems design, and mutual aid. We understand what it feels like to need support and to be the one trying to offer it. We’re building something practical and accessible, guided by harm reduction and a belief that real solutions come from people who’ve been there. We want to make life easier for the people doing the hardest work and to make sure no one gets left behind.

What We Do

Emerald City Beacon is a grassroots organization based in Seattle that uses technology to ensure that no one falls through the cracks when seeking help. We created a digital platform that helps people in King County quickly access up-to-date information about available shelters, food programs, medical care, legal aid, and other vital services.
