Who We Are
The East Duwamish Greenbelt is an urban forest that offers green space, plant and wildlife habitat, walking trails, and a chance to reconnect with nature in the midst of the city. In 2011, community members, the Washington Native Plant Society, the Parks Department of the City of Seattle, and the nonprofit Forterra came together under the Green Seattle Partnership to restore the ecological integrity of the green space located approximately at S Trenton St and 39th Ave S.
What We Do
We're working to create a healthy, urban forest, where the community can walk, play, explore, and enjoy nature. As volunteers and neighbors, we host work parties to remove invasive plants and replace them with native tress and shrubs. We've recently built a trail through the woods, to connect to light rail, and now students from nearby schools enjoy walking field trips in their local forest.
