Who We Are

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. The IRC was founded in 1933 and has worked in the Seattle area for 40 years, helping 25,000 refugees and survivors of human trafficking rebuild their lives in Washington State.

What We Do

The IRC helps newly-arrived refugee families become independent and involved members of our community. Core services include:

  • Initial housing assistance
  • Case management and referral services
  • Job readiness and placement
  • Community and cultural orientation
  • Health and wellness programs
  • Immigration services
  • Youth programs

The IRC in Seattle is also the lead agency in the Washington Anti-Trafficking Response Network (WARN) which assists survivors of human trafficking across Washington State.
