Who We Are
At Zeno, a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington, we inspire kids to love math!
Zeno's mission is to increase children’s competence and confidence in math with fun and engaging activities. We serve early learners and elementary school aged children in the communities with the greatest need. Our vision is a world where everyone knows they can do math.
Zeno is about the infinite possibilities that arise from an individual’s relationship with math. The name ‘Zeno’ honors Greek philosopher Zeno of Elea – one of the first people to talk about the concept of infinity. We believe that when math is engaging, fun and accessible it can have a transformational impact on a person’s life.
What We Do
If we can step in and encourage a love for math early in a child’s life, everything can change. That’s why Zeno has provided math powered moments to kids, teachers and families at over 70 schools and organizations since our establishment in 2003. Our current programs build a foundation in math from an early age and foster family engagement with math.
Our Mathways for Early Learning gives families and caregivers of preschoolers the tools and training to encourage early math exploration, giving kids the opportunity to arrive at kindergarten ready to succeed. Through our partner organizations, we distribute Math Game Kits to families and provide professional development for early learning providers.
Our elementary school programs help families develop the tools and confidence they need to support their kids in math and provide opportunities for families to play and engage with math together.
Family Math Night Series - A series of math night events that give families an opportunity to learn and practice games and strategies to incorporate math into daily life.
MathFest - Zeno’s community-wide that gathers kids and families to explore math in unique and unexpected ways. Kids have the opportunity to visit a variety of game stations where they can build their math confidence and skills in a supportive and playful environment.
