Who We Are

Seattle Music Partners is a non-profit organization that provides individual music tutoring and weekly group music lessons to students in low-income schools in the Central District. We currently serve students at Lowell Elementary, Leschi Elementary, Bailey Gatzert Elementary, and Madrona Elementary School, and also host a middle school evening program at Yesler Community Center.

What We Do

For 18 years, SMP has worked with low-income students in Seattle?s Central District. We also provide a unique opportunity for skilled musicians to give back to their community. Our mission is to cultivate a diverse and vibrant music-making community by providing youth with free music instruction and one-on-one mentoring to eliminate racial and economic barriers to quality music education. To attain this goal, we recruit, train and support skilled high school, college-aged and community musicians as volunteer music tutors and mentors who lead one-on-one music lessons each week. These lessons are supplemented with a second afternoon of group instruction and ensemble work. We also provide instruments to participants and transportation where needed. Students showcase their new skills by performing in several recitals each year and an end of the year concert.
