Who We Are

The mission of Center for Human Services (CHS) is to strengthen the community through counseling, education, and support to children, youth, adults, and families. Our vision is to be the community's leading provider of social services to children, youth, adults and families. We believe the most critical element for strengthening a community is to strengthen its members and their families through preventive and responsive programs that are strengths-based, family-focused, client-centered, integrated, and culturally competent. Center for Human Services is a community based, nonprofit, multi-service agency that has been a resource for individuals, youth, and families since 1970. CHS was formed in January 1982 as a result of a merger between the Creative Life Foundation and Shoreline Youth Services. The agency currently holds a permanent Washington State Charitable Organization Registration Certificate, #2564, and is a public benefit nonprofit, with IRS Section 501c(3) tax status.

What We Do

CHS offers three core programs. Substance Use Disorder Intervention, & Treatment for youth and adults provides assessments, treatment, and informational classes. Family Counseling provides mental health counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Family Support centers provide a safe and fun place where families and individuals can access diverse resources and learning opportunities while making community connections. Opportunities include school-readiness programs, skill building classes, parent/child interaction groups, tutoring programs and family fun activities.
