Friends Of VA Puget Sound Fisher House

The Friends of VA Puget Sound Fisher House support Veteran families who call Fisher House home. We fund the programs of the House and provide goods and services which would normally not be available. We work raise awareness and build community with individuals willing to share in the commitment to compassionately support the mission of the Fisher House. The Friends of VA Puget Sound Fisher House, (501(c) (3) non-profit organization) was established in 2006. The nonprofit is managed by an all volunteer Board of Directors, one staff person, and volunteers to complement the work of the VA employees at the Fisher House.The organization provides a source of support for the VA Puget Sound Fisher House so individuals, organizations, and businesses in the community can support Veterans and their families while their loved is receiving medical care at the VA or an affiliated hospital.

The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America?s military families in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Since opening on September 10, 2008, the VA Puget Sound Fisher House has been privileged to serve over 5,300 families of Veterans and active duty military personnel from 49 states and 15 foreign countries. Guests stay for free; it is estimated families have been saved over $10 million in costs. The 20 guest suites provide a "home away from home" for families of Veterans receiving care at VA Puget Sound Health Care System and families of active duty personnel who have loved ones in other area facilities. Guests are able to be near their loved ones while having a comfortable, peaceful place to find rest and support for themselves. More than a convenient and beautiful place to stay, the guests of Fisher House share common experiences, form friendships and become a unique kind of family, a Fisher House family.
