Who We Are

"Inspiring Hope, Fostering Growth!"

Camelot Society's vision is empowering people with disabilities to live extraordinary lives.

Camelot Society's first home was built in 1972. The home serves people who attend public schools or work in the community. There are a wide variety of services provided including social skills training, recreation, and community integration programs necessary to enhance self-sufficiency and independence. Bedford and Brookhaven Homes (Woodinville): Founded in 1977, they were the first group homes in the world for people with Prader-Willi Syndrome, first defined in 1956 as an uncommon condition caused by a birth defect. The most common characteristics of Prader-Willi individuals include mild mental retardation, abnormal growth which usually results in short stature, behavior dysfunction and an insatiable appetite, coupled with a requirement for considerably fewer calories than the average person. Special emphasis in these homes is placed on weight loss maintenance, diet training, exercise and supported competitive employment. The use of community resources for educational, recreational and social interactions insures creative individual development. Supported Living: The agency Supported Living program was established in January 1998, beginning with services to two clients who moved from Camelot group home settings. Clients living in the Supported Living program live in community homes that they personally rent.  We also operate a small vocational department - supporting our clients to find jobs in the community.

What We Do

Camelot Society believes that all people need to be in control of their lives and we will assist our clients in reaching their goals and will assist them in enriching their horizons. Staff at Camelot aspire to empower people with intellectual disabilities to reach the goals that empower them. We believe that Camelot Society must be vitally conscious of the ramifications of past negative experiences by persons with disabilities. As a society, we must consider that many of the people served by Camelot Society and others within our community, may have had limited opportunities to realize a variety of experiences and opportunities that shape the average person in choosing where and with whom they live.  Camelot operated with the guiding principles of Integrity, Respect, Safety, Quality of Life, Accountability & Optimism.
