What We Do
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Homeward Pet Adoption Center. Last year Homeward Pet placed over 1600 homeless kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs. We are not able to help these animals without the support of dedicated and compassionate volunteers. Every week there are 350+ volunteers donating their time to assist in the direct care of the animals, education, administrative projects, care of the facility and off site events. Due to the time invested in training, we require all volunteers to make a minimum 3- month commitment, one 2-4 hour shift per week. You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer at the shelter.
How to become a Volunteer: For the safety of staff and volunteers, all volunteers must be well trained and educated in Homeward Pet?s procedures. See Volunteer Job Descriptions below for minimum age requirements. If you are interested in volunteering, there are several steps to take before becoming a volunteer.
1. Complete the Volunteer Application by going to www.homewardpet.org and click on Get Involved. All applications will receive a response within 2 weeks of submission. Please complete as much of the application as possible as all additional information will assist in your placement as a volunteer.
2. You will receive an invitation to an online live orientation session where we discuss Homeward Pet's policies, procedures, volunteer positions, and give a tour of the facility. You will be asked to authorize us to do a background check and show your ID as well as provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. .
3. After attending orientation you will be sent links to online training for you to complete in the area you wish to volunteer (Cats, Dogs, Fostering, etc).
