Who We Are

Plymouth Healing Communities breaks the cycle of hospitalization and homelessness by offering small, low barrier neighborhood-scale transitional and supportive housing to individuals who are recovering from mental illness. PHC began in 2001 through funds raised from members of the Plymouth Church in downtown Seattle, who readily recognized the systemic harm done to people who are chronically homeless with mental health issues. Our transitional facility House of Healing opened in 2002, providing one-on-one care to residents immediately upon release from Harborview Hospital. Opened in July 2005, Hofmann House is our third house, providing permanent housing facilities for residents in the Harborview Mental Health Services program. We acquired the Argonaut Apartments in December of 2008, and the Admiral Apartments in December of 2009, both of which provide permanent studio and one-bedroom apartments for residents who prefer to live in a more independent setting. All permanent housing facilities are supported by our community companion program.

What We Do

Our Community Companion program encourages community engagement and support through companionship. At our permanent housing facilities, volunteers in our program develop rapport with residents through regular activities and outings, fostering relationships that offset isolation and support housing stability. With the help of volunteers, we offer a range of opportunities for residents to share interests together, whether a walk in the park, a trip to a local museum, getting coffee, playing games, or sharing a meal.
