Who We Are
With over 100 cats at our main shelter in Arlington and Renton PetSmart adoption center, we have an ongoing need for volunteer cat lovers like you!!
Purrfect Pals was founded in 1988 by cat lover Kathy Centala. Determined to open the Puget Sound region’s first no-kill cat shelter, she scraped together the down payment for a modest house on five acres in Arlington in 1993. Room by room, the house and two detached garages were renovated to create our current shelter and veterinary clinic.
With open colony rooms, catios, a clinic, highly trained staff and volunteers, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care to all cats- regardless of circumstance. Especially those who other shelters and rescue groups might not have the resources to help.
Through sheltering, adoption, and lifesaving foster programs, we are dedicated to serving cats in need.
What We Do
Purrfect Pals currently has a team of 300+ active volunteers who help make our on and offsite programs a success. They are the heart of our organization and help us operate to our full capacity. We have an adoption center at Renton PetSmart that is almost completely volunteer run! Our cat adoption and rehabilitation programs help us match and place unhoused cats of all abilities in loving homes. Our ultimate goal is adoption, but these cats have a forever home in our Arlington sanctuary for as long as they need us.
---
We understand cats often end up in shelters due to issues such as moving to a residence that does not allow pets, the skyrocketing cost of veterinary care, and people having to make tough decisions like choosing between a bill and their beloved pet. Purrfect Pals is dedicated to promoting inclusion, empathy, and equity in our community. When available, Purrfect Pals provides vouchers for free public spay and neuter for cats and kittens which can be redeemed at participating low-cost spay and neuter clinics. Our pet food bank provides free pet food and supplies to those who are struggling financially. We also offer these services to caretakers of feral and free-roaming colonies.
Thank you for supporting us in our mission and lifesaving work! Apply now!!!
