Who We Are

Every child deserves to be safe, healthy and loved, which is why NW Children’s Foundation dedicates itself 100% to ending the complicated cycle of child abuse and neglect—and ensures that 100% of individual donations go directly to programs doing just that. By finding and funding a network of the most effective and innovative organizations in Western Washington, we’re changing the lives of our community’s most fragile and vulnerable. Join us. Together, we are making hope work.

What We Do

The mission of NW Children's Foundation is to end the cycle of child abuse and neglect. Our work is carried out through two complementary programs:

  1. Grantmaking. NWCF’s grants support prevention, early intervention, and treatment programs to heal abused children, strengthen fragile families, and help at-risk-youth. Every grant applicant is carefully reviewed, including a site visit to see their programs in action.
  2. Educational Outreach. NWCF convenes diverse players in the child welfare field to learn together and connect in order to work toward community-level improvement in our approaches to preventing and responding to child maltreatment. The annual NWCF Forum is a key component of this outreach work.

We know that breaking this complicated cycle requires a multi-point strategy. Not only must we intervene when abuse or neglect has already occurred and help the fragile victims heal, we also must work to keep it from happening at all. That’s why NW Children’s Foundation impacts several critical points in the complex cycle of abuse and neglect. By supporting therapeutic foster care, youth mentoring, family stability and so much more, we’re providing the support systems children need to be in a safe, nurturing environment, and alleviating the stresses and deficiencies that can lead to abuse and neglect.
