Founded in 1991 by a small group of descendants of Swedish-speaking Finns interested in preserving the cultural heritage of our families who immigrated to North America, approximately 47,000 people. Our current membership of 725 people reside in the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden, plus other nations. We do this through a quarterly magazine, archiving of documentation of emigrants, newspapers, photos, oral histories and other pertinent information for access by genealogy researchers, small group tours to Finland, assistance in personal family genealogy, translation of documents, workshops and social events.
Gathering and preserving the emigration history of Swedish Finns across the world, connecting Swedish Finns to their roots in Finland and celebrating our cultural heritage. This is done by documenting every Swedish Finn emigrant, developing resources for connecting Swedish Finn families worldwide, collecting and archiving materials pertaining to Swedish Finn emigrants in a permanent home in perpetuity, sharing past and contemporary Swedish Finn history, including our heritage and culture, with members and others, celebrating our Swedish Finn background wherever descendants are located around the world, keeping Finland aware of Swedish Finn emigrants, collaborating with other genealogical and cultural groups.
