Who We Are

THE DIVA APPROACH:  SELF-CARE, SUPPORT, SELF-EMPOWERMENT, STABILITY

Founder and Director, Nikki Gane started Dignity for Divas (DfD) in 2012. Inspired by her own experience with homelessness, she felt moved to help other vulnerable women during a frightening and devastating time in their lives.  Her belief that self-care is the first step on the road to rebuilding dignity and stability has been DfD’s guiding principle.

DfD conducts outreach and case management services to women who are experiencing homelessness as well as to women who are newly housed.  We provide women with essential care packages that contain hygiene supplies, menstrual products and specialty items such as jewelry and make-up. These items remind women that they matter and reconnect them with their “Inner Diva.”  From this initial point of contact, DfD cultivates an ongoing relationship with women. We link them to mental health services, medical care, emergency shelters and housing navigation services. But that’s not all! We invite women to participate in free year-long skill building classes and health and wellness workshops that empower women to continue on their journey to success.  This is the only program of its kind in our region.

Our goal is to not just meet the survival needs of unsheltered women and give them renewed hope, but to provide a continuum of care for women. We replace the social isolation that often accompanies homelessness with meaningful engagement.  This is what women need to not only take the steps to become housed but to “keep the key” and remain housed.

What We Do

Our mission is to restore hope and dignity to women experiencing homelessness by reminding them they matter and reconnecting them with their “Inner Diva,” as well as to support and encourage women who are in transition from being homeless as they walk the path toward a self-sustaining life.
