Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children

Our mission is focused on three outcomes: grade level achievement; English proficiency; and oral communication and listening skills. We are committed to helping D/HH children become self-confident, articulate and academically competitive learners, and engaged community members. The outcomes achieved through our preschool – eighth grade program are extraordinary. A large number of deaf students, graduating from other deaf programs, complete high school at a third-grade reading level and sixth-grade level in math. Nearly 100% of our alumni go on to graduate from high school. 67% of our graduates go on to complete post-secondary degrees compared to less than 30% of D/HH individuals nationally.

For the past 35 years, Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children (NWSDHH) has been a leader in education for children with hearing loss. Each year, we serve approximately 200 Western Washington families with deaf and hard-of-hearing (D/HH) children. We strongly believe when families have the right support, children are set up to succeed in school and throughout life. We see this in the children we serve every single day. We have three primary programs: 1. Preschool - eighth grade 2. Early intervention for families with D/HH children ages birth to three years 3. School District Support Program
