Integrative Care Outreach (ICO) is the only community-based, integrative medical approach addressing the urgent health inequity of those experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty in King County, WA. ICO impacts the community by providing roughly 600 100% free, individualized patient visits annually at homeless shelters, youth centers, and low-income buildings. Through its compassionate practitioners, cultural humility training, and pop-up clinic model, ICO eliminates common barriers to care such as transportation, socioeconomic status, systemic discrimination, ability, and/or insurance status. ICO's medical team of licensed naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and advanced student clinicians are trained to care for people where they are at, address the root cause of disease, and emphasize disease prevention, which are strong tools for sustaining health in these communities. ICO actively supports the resiliency of this population and builds an inclusive community where quality health care is a human right for all.
