Who We Are
Our mission is to connect young children and their families to the splendor of the natural world, through advocacy, education, and environmental stewardship. We envision a joyful learning community where all young children and their families are given the time and space to develop a meaningful relationship to the natural world, and each other, through wonder and play.
What We Do
Greenplay Northwest is part of the growing local and national movement to reconnect children to the important spaces and places of their childhoods – their backyards, the meadows, hills, watery ditches, and lush forests – where learning and knowing happens naturally. We offer programs, services, and tools to help families balance and cope with the pressures of the modern world, by learning about and being in nature. Specifically, we: 1. Provide nature-based early learning programs that help young children develop a sense of belonging and purpose in the world, and a deepened connection to the places where they live and play. 2. Educate parents, teachers, childcare providers, and the community about the importance of unstructured, unhurried play, especially outdoors and in all seasons. 3. Support community efforts to develop and maintain beautiful, green spaces for families.
