The Washington West African Center (WAWAC) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant. This vital role supports the financial operations of our organization, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in managing resources that empower our community initiatives.
As a Finance Assistant, you will work closely with the Finance Director and Executive Director to maintain financial records, assist with budgeting, and support reporting requirements. Your contributions will help sustain WAWAC’s mission of community empowerment through responsible financial stewardship.
Responsibilities
Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including data entry, invoice tracking, and reconciliation of accounts
Support the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and grant documentation
Help monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with internal policies and funding guidelines
Collaborate with program leads to track spending and align budgets with project goals
Contribute to financial audits by organizing documentation and responding to inquiries
Assist in processing payments, reimbursements, and payroll-related tasks
Participate in meetings and trainings to stay informed about financial procedures and updates
Provide administrative support to the Finance Director and Executive Director as needed
Uphold confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information
Engage in continuous learning to improve financial literacy and contribute to organizational growth

Training: Includes orientation and department-specific onboarding. Meetings may be required as part of your duties.
