New Family Traditions is a pioneering organization in King County that's transforming the lives of women and their families affected by substance use disorders. Since 2008, we've provided unique gender-specific treatment services with on-site childcare – the first of its kind in our region. What sets us apart is our comprehensive understanding that women, especially mothers, face distinct challenges in recovery and need specialized support.
We're seeking passionate board members who share our commitment to breaking the generational cycle of addiction while advocating for equity, particularly for BIPOC communities. Our program's success is evident in our innovative approach: combining gender-based treatment, free childcare, and comprehensive support services that keep families together during the recovery journey.

As board member, you will play a vital role in guiding the organization's mission, ensuring strong governance, supporting financial sustainability, and helping shape services that support women and families affected by substance use disorders.
We especially encourage applications from individuals with:
- Lived experience in recovery
- Experience with substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health services
- Child welfare or family services backgrounds
- Finance, accounting, or business expertise
- Legal experience
- Nonprofit leadership, fundraising, advocacy, or community engagement experience

Board Member Responsibilities
- Board members provide strategic oversight and governance for the organization by:
- Supporting the mission, vision, and values of New Traditions
- Monitoring organizational and financial performance
- Ensuring legal, ethical, and fiscal accountability
- Supporting and evaluating the Executive Director
- Participating in organizational planning and resource development
- Serving as ambassadors for New Traditions within the community
- Assisting with fundraising and donor engagement activities
- Recruiting and mentoring future board members
Commitment
Term: Two-year term
Meetings: Monthly board meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (via Zoom) and Annual Board Retreats (in-person)
Attendance: Regular participation is expected
Fundraising: Board members participate in annual fundraising activities and support resource development efforts
Professional Development: Participation in the annual board retreat and ongoing engagement with agency initiatives
