Do you knit or crochet?
Every year Assistance League of the Eastside volunteers host shopping events for 3,500-4,000 students in need to shop for new school clothing, shoes and coats. After shopping students delight in selecting a handmade hat or scarf.
We accept donations of knitted/crocheted hats and scarves to fit students in grades K-12. All colors, designs and styles are desired, but Seahawks and local college (UW, WSU) colors are especially sought after.
Anyone can participate in knitting for students in need. Not a knitter? We also accept donations of yarn so that residents of assisted living and senior communities who are on a limited budget but want to knit can participate.
This is a great community service project for youth or a great workplace project - place a collection bin in your office and ask co-workers or customers if they would like to Knit for a Need.
Respond to this opportunity if interested and we can coordinate drop off of the donations.
Need a tax receipt for your donation? Print the in-kind form and turn it in with your donation.
