Come celebrate Earth Day 2022 with us!
We will be celebrating Earth Day at our beautiful Riverview Park site with partners MidSound Fisheries, Duwamish Alive!, and the City of Kent! At this event we will be removing invasive plants and applying mulch to protect and help establish our installed native plants while combating the return of invasive plants. We will also be holding a demonstration on "live staking" Red Osier Dogwood and giving you all the chance to live stake your own! We will also be discussing the importance of healthy rivers and how the work we do on the riverbank has a cascade effect to help salmon and southern resident orca!
The work we will be doing has multiply benefits to the Green River. Establishing native plants helps stabilize the river to prevent erosion and shade out the river which helps keep dissolved oxygen in the water! This helps local fish like the local chinook salmon which are a main food source for the southern resident orca!
