Description

Join World Relief Western Washington in honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy at Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden! This volunteer event supports refugees and immigrants by providing space to grow food and foster community connections through preparing our garden for the 2025 growing season. Tasks include, but are not limited to weeding, blackberry removal, and mulching our food forest. Please come prepared with weather-appropriate clothing and a refillable water bottle.

Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden, a project of World Relief Western Washington, transforms an underused parking lot into a community garden, enhancing food access and promoting social justice. To register for this event, please click the Register button below.

Get Connected Icon Q: How will you raise awareness of - and reflect on - the role of racial and social justice within the volunteer project?
A: During our opening speech, we will share our vision of welcoming, rooting, and empowering every refugee and immigrant in the community. Highlighting the inception of Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden and World Relief's commitment to equitable access for immigrants and communities of color. Volunteers working on Paradise Parking Plots' maintenance will help food access for underserved communities. Moreover, we aim to foster discussions about racial and social justice, reflecting questions about MLK's impact and equity issues in the community. At the check-in table, we'll distribute World Relief materials to emphasize our focus on racial and social justice.
