Join Trees for Neighborhoods and Dirt Corps for our fourth tree care skill share and volunteer work party at Longfellow Creek! We will be learning how to decide the best species and spots for adding new trees to your yard or street. Our Right Tree, Right Place lesson is leading up to our free tree giveaway and local planting season. We’ll then be removing harmful weeds from and applying mulch to the mature trees at this site to allow them to continue to thrive.
Continue to join us at Longfellow Creek throughout the year for more upcoming lessons in our Tree Care and Skill Share volunteer series, including our fall planting and volunteer appreciation event in October. This series offers a foundational toolkit for how to care for your own neighborhood trees and lend a hand to our city’s trees!
All ages and skill levels are welcome! Please wear clothing that can get dirty, including long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. We’ll be working rain or shine, so everyone is encouraged to dress for the weather and wear layers if you can. We’ll provide the tools, gloves, snacks, hot drinks, and water.
