Join us on Monday, January 19th from 9:00am - 12:00pm at Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service hosted by World Relief Western Washington in partnership with United Way of King County.

Our programs, dedicated to serving refugees and immigrants in South King County, aim to bolster community food security and sovereignty, champion environmental health, and address the effects of stormwater pollution in our local watershed. Be a part of this meaningful day as we celebrate Dr. King's life and work through collective action.

  • Spread cedar chips on the garden walking paths
  • Spread mulch around the food forest for weed suppression

Other Details:

  • This event will happen rain or shine, so please dress appropriately with closed toed shoes/boots, layers for the weather, clothes that can get dirty.
  • Please bring a refillable water bottle - we will have a cooler available onsite
  • Washed gardening gloves will be provided; however, please bring your own if possible.

Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden is a project of World Relief Western Washington. In 2017, we began transforming an underused parking lot into a thriving garden with 50 growing beds, raingardens, a bioswale, and food forest. It is a place where refugees, immigrants and local community members can gather to grow culturally-appropriate foods that promote a healthier lifestyle, improve food access, foster economic independence, and build community. Thank you for your help in continuing to build and improve our shared space!
