Description

The purpose of Abbey Arts volunteer program is to support the active engagement of our community with the arts on an ongoing basis. Our small events naturally create community and boost empathy, and our volunteer team is a vital part of creating that welcoming space for everyone who comes to an Abbey Arts event.

Our mission is to curate welcoming arts & cultural experiences where people of all ages and incomes can explore creativity, enjoy beauty, grow empathy, and increase awareness.

We aim for Abbey Arts produced events to be focused on the beauty of live music and the arts. Music & arts events help people take time away from the busy distractions of daily life, put down their digital devices, and really engage in an experience. We believe this can help us all grow more empathy and build awareness while connecting more with others in the community.

Why Volunteer?

By cleaning, repairing, and helping with community projects at Abbey Arts you’re empowering 1000’s of people of all ages & incomes to be able to experience the arts, music, and community... and thereby greatly improving their quality of life.  Your volunteer work is integral to our sustainability as a lean and limber small nonprofit since our budget mostly goes to providing programs.

Do you have anyone who is confident in one or more of the following:

Construction Projects

General Painting (attention to detail)

Artistic Skills (painting, typography, drawing, etc)

Photography

Social Media Content / Idea Development for fall Shows

etc. secret skills?

Volunteer Lead: We do rely on a strong and organized volunteer team lead to be the main point of contact with our staff during the volunteer day. Depending on team size, a second/third in command who can serve as project task leads can be quite helpful. As a volunteer lead we rely on you for the following

  • Successful startup (team arrives on time, gathers together for Abbey orientation and project assignments)
  • Successful Exit: 80% or more of the team stays to the end, space is reset, organized and ready for evening events- building improvements can be messy! (:
  • Help guide team members through projects in a safe and quality way.
  • Periodic check ins with the Abbey staff to ensure that your team members are having the best experience possible. Please let us know about concerns, reassignments needed, etc.

Working together in this way will ensure that your volunteer team has the most positive impact - thank you in advance for your time, leadership and commitment to improving your local community. We can’t wait to work with your team!
