Position Reports To: Volunteer/Staff Supervisor

Position Description:

  • Match shelter residents with loving, well-suited, lifelong guardians by, among other undertakings, getting to know our feline residents, interviewing potential adopters, and reviewing adoption applications.
  • Proactively engage and provide outstanding customer service to all shelter visitors and potential adopters.
  • Educate potential adopters about MEOW’s adoption policies.
  • Attend continuing education sessions offered through MEOW and relating to adoption counseling.
  • Assist with other shelter-related tasks as necessary, requested, and/or able.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of MEOW’s Volunteer Orientation and Cat Handling Training.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A desire to change lives through education and match-making.

Working Conditions:*

  • Subject to cat bites and scratches.
  • Exposure to chemicals (e.g., cleaning products) and prescribed drugs (e.g., topical medications).
  • Exposure to zoonotic diseases.

Physical Demands:*

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Regular lifting to 15 pounds and occasional lifting of 10-35 pounds, with reasonable accommodations.

Commitment: One shift (3-5 hours) per week.
