Description

Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of the newly renamed Josten Park (formerly the North Juanita Open Space). Volunteers will spend the morning doing a mix of restoration activities which may include removing aggressive invasive species like ivy and blackberry, spreading mulch over cleared areas and planting native trees, shrubs and groundcovers.  No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us!

Suggested Dress:
Remember to dress for the weather (don’t forget raingear!). Wear boots or comfortable athletic shoes, work clothes (long pants), and layers that you don’t mind getting dirty.

What to bring to volunteer:  Bring a filled water bottle and snacks to munch on during the event. Tools, gloves and training will be provided at the site.

*If you would like to bring snacks to share with the group we will have a snack table where you can place your goodies!

Directions: The park entrance is located just west of the NE 129th & 112th. Look for wooden "Josten Park" sign indicating the park entrance.

Meet in the central area of the park. Look for the pop-up tent.

Parking: Street parking is available. We encourage volunteers to carpool, bike, bus, or walk to the event.

Youth Volunteers: Volunteers 14-17 may volunteer without their parents if they bring a youth waiver signed by a parent or guardian. All volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Find the Youth Waiver here.
