Each Thanksgiving, Plymouth Housing Group residents share a feast in their buildings with staff, volunteers, donors, community members and board members. These special celebrations allow the very low-income residents who may no longer be in contact with family and friends to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal along with the good company of their Plymouth community.
We expect that about 700 residents will attend this year’s meal and we are currently asking for the following food donations:
- Cooked turkeys or hams (ready-to-serve/cut into slices)
- Mashed potato, sweet potato, and green bean casseroles
- Stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauces
- Rolls and butter
- Salads and vegetables
- Pies and whipped cream
- Non-alcoholic beverages and coffee
We encourage items in disposable pans or containers as we cannot guarantee that they will be returned. Also, food needs to be “ready-to-eat” upon delivery.
Donations need to be delivered the day of Thanksgiving (Thurs, Nov 24th) between 9:00 am and 11:00 am in downtown Seattle. (Exact location will be determined the week of Thanksgiving.)
Please respond to this opportunity if you are interested in donating a meal and then we will work with you to further coordinate.
At Plymouth we believe that providing permanent housing is only part of the solution to ending homelessness—we also provide the services and support that provide community for our residents. Events like this meal allow our residents to connect with each other and develop community in their home.
