KCSARC is looking for volunteers for our Pop-Up at Westlake Park on February 1st
Where: Central site: Westlake Park, 401 Pine St., Seattle, WA 98101
Traveling satellite demonstrations: Transit routes throughout King County
When: Wednesday, February 1, 11:00am—5:00pm
What: KCSARC’s BEING LOUD Pop-Up Event is an opportunity for the public to participate in a collaborative visual art project to increase awareness of sexual assault and amplify the voices of those impacted by sexual assault.
Why: This event is the first ever of its kind in Seattle and is informed by the momentum of other national events and social media campaigns raising awareness about sexual assault. Considering the current climate, it is more important than ever to speak out against sexual assault.
Volunteers can sign up for a shift from 11am-2pm or 2pm to 5pm (or all day if you are able!). At Westlake, volunteers will invite pedestrians to sign a Post It note with message "I stand with survivors of sexual assault" and then direct them to chose a place on the 20 foot panel to place the Post It. For more adventurous volunteers, folks can choose from the traveling demonstrations ( Link light rail trips to Kent Station, Tukwila Station/ Southcenter, Auburn Station, Bellevue Transit Center and Bothell Station) which are anywhere from a 1-2.5 hour commitment. KCSARC will cover all fare costs. These will depart shortly after the 11am start, returning by 3pm to add collected notes from the county to the main panel.
