Vegfest is the largest vegetarian food festival in the United States. It is held at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall each Spring. Each year there are doctors and dietitians talking about nutrition, chefs giving cooking demonstrations, a huge bookstore and over 500 different kinds of food to try. We need hundreds of volunteers to make it happen, doing everything from serving food samples to cashiering, greeting guests to restocking booths. You don't have to be a vegetarian to volunteer. To show our appreciation, all volunteers who work for a minimum of four hours will receive a free Vegfest t-shirt, free admission to the event, the satisfaction in helping people experience great vegetarian food, helping out a great nonprofit, and having a whole lot of fun.
We have roles for everyone including teens, seniors, groups and families. There’s a 20 min training video for all volunteers to watch. Most roles involve being on your feet for your whole shift, although some seating is available for ticket sales and food demonstrators. Stocking will involve lifting some heavy boxes. Food demonstrators will be serving samples of food, anything from cookies, chips and drinks to noodles or veggie burgers. Cashiers must have experience using a cash register. Families can walk around the Seattle Center together holding signs and handing out flyers. To receive more details about the roles and skills required, please respond to the opportunity.
