For many low-income families, the summer months are particularly stressful and thousands of kids aren't getting the food and nutrition they need. In King County, 100,000 low-income children and teenagers rely on free or discounted meals during the school year, but less than 20% access free meals during the summer. That's why United Way of King County is committed to serving more meals than ever before and we need your help!
Every Tuesday and Thursday, United Way is hosting a Field Day at a Summer Meals -Food Invasion site located in King County. These are super fun days packed with educational activities, games, and plenty of food. We need volunteers to help run our activity booths and make sure kids want to come back day after day!
Volunteers are integral to the success of this event. Their job is to help provide a welcoming, interactive, fun environment for kiddos and to keep them engaged throughout the day. Due to the very nature of an event such as this we ask that everyone remain as flexible as possible as we may need to shift volunteers around to a variety of volunteer tasks during the course of the day. Most volunteers will be helping to keep lines moving and activities running. Volunteers will also be asked to help set up before the event and tear down after.
