Overview:

Join a team of board members and community volunteers who are passionate about global issues and equity to build support for rural communities and families in Ethiopia. Provide leadership, energy, and enthusiasm to plan and implement special events that bring people together, build community, and inspire others to get involved with Project Ethiopia. Have fun and learn new skills in the areas of event planning and donor engagement.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop a yearly calendar of events including an annual fundraising dinner each October, smaller gatherings and outreach events, and house parties.
  • Bring new ideas for events that highlight the work and impact of Project Ethiopia and build relationships with new and existing supporters.
  • Assist in the overall design, planning, and implementation for events including venue selection, food/beverage, programming, marketing, materials, volunteer coordination, and other logistics.
  • Recruit and manage additional event-specific volunteers to share their time and/or skills.
  • Secure in-kind donations of goods and services needed to support events.
  • Work with members of the Marketing & Communications Committee to support event promotion through a variety of platforms, design event materials, and guide communications plans.
  • Invite those in your network to attend and learn more about Project Ethiopia.
  • Help evaluate each event and identify improvements for the future.

Time Commitment: 

The Events Committee will meet at least six times a year. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed based on event tasks and timelines. Average time commitment is 3 – 5 hours per month. Every effort will be made to schedule meetings at a time that works with committee members and utilize video conferencing when necessary.
