Мы ищем русскоязычных добровольцев!
JFS's Refugee and Immigrant Services (RIS), with branches in Bellevue and Kent, and the Food Bank at JFS's Capitol Hill campus are seeking Russian- language speakers to help us communicate with our Russian-speaking clients for cultural orientation, event scheduling, client surveys, etc.
Here are some possible volunteer opportunities for a speaker of Russian:
- The Food Bank in Capitol Hill can sometimes use help from a Russian speaker to communicate with clients or, if you can read handwritten Russian, to process occasional surveys
- Friendly Visitor program: there is often need for volunteers to make home visits to Russian-speaking seniors. This is the program with the greatest need for Russian speakers. Please, if you are a Russian speaker, consider this volunteer opportunity: JFS Friendly Visitor opportunity listing
- Drivers for Russian-speaking seniors are sometimes needed for rides to doctor appointments, the pharmacy, the grocery, etc. If you have a car and are an insured driver, please consider helping out. (Sorry, there is no mileage reimbursement for volunteer drivers.)
- There may be additional needs for Russian-speaking volunteers in the Seattle area, either occasional or recurring opportunities.
Volunteers should be reasonably fluent in both Russian and English in order to act as interpreters for Russian-speaking clients with limited English.
Спасибо for any help you can provide.
