Want to make a real impact? Volunteer as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
What we do: Talk to you to find out your interests and what you feel you have to offer. Do you love to dance? Are you a first generation college student? Are you bilingual? We match you with a young person based on shared interests and affinities.
What you do: Work with your mentee to plan and do cool things together. Help them explore their interests. Celebrate their joys and achievements. Listen when they need to vent. Communicate with their families and Big Brothers Big Sisters staff--both about the everyday and any issues that arise.
What difference does it make? An authentic, supportive relationship opens up new ideas, opportunities, and experiences for kids--and for their mentors.
TLDR:
1. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
2. Plan to commit for at least one year from the time you are matched.
3. Spend at least 4 hours per month with your mentee.
