Birth to Three Developmental Center is looking for volunteers to serve on our board of directors and help fulfill our mission of "supporting and nurturing the development of infants, toddlers, young children, and their families, through early intervention, child care and family support services, promoting the development of skills to last a lifetime.”
Our Board is comprised of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds living in South King and Pierce County who are responsible for:
- Defining the mission and purpose of Birth to Three Developmental Center.
- Hiring and supervising the Executive Director.
- Providing proper financial oversight.
- Ensuring adequate resources.
- Maintaining ethical and legal accountability.
- Ensuring effective organizational planning.
- Recruiting new board members and assessing board member performance.
- Enhancing the Agency’s public standing.
- Determining, monitoring and strengthening the Agency’s programs.
We seek Board Members that reflect the diversity of the communities that we serve and can support the following strategic goals:
- To develop and implement a plan to address our current and future facility needs to grow our early intervention program and future efforts to expand our services for young children and their families.
- To build sufficient working, risk / opportunity, change and equipment capital reserves to bridge revenue timing gaps, respond to and absorb unforeseen expenses, and fund investments in program expansion and infrastructure.
- To develop and implement a strategic fund development plan that raises the community profile of Birth to Three with the appropriate audiences and communities to increase our base of individual and community donors.
- To maintain and expand our strategic partnerships that support Birth to Three’s Mission and align with the Department of Children, Youth and Families and Best Starts for Kids Funding Opportunities.
- To develop capacity and diversity of our Board of Directors to advance the profile of Birth to Three and strengthen the Agency’s position in our community.
