More than 12% of students in King County live in poverty and one in five students experience food insecurity each year. Families living in poverty are often forced to make tough decisions between paying rent, keeping the lights on, and putting food on the table. United Way’s Fuel Your Future program aims to connect kids to nutritious food, during the school year and beyond.
To deepen our connections with students and families, Fuel Your Future hosts Family Market Nights at our partner schools throughout the year. Market nights are fun events which provide a free hot dinner for families and access to community resources, as well as games, activities, nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and free bags of organic produce.
Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, engaging kids in activities during the event, breakdown and cleanup.
