The Firwood Circle Youth Tutoring Center in Auburn will be hosting a fun reading event for students to kick off their mid-winter break. The Reading Extravaganza is an event that is designed to encourage a culture of reading in the community and to learn new things with youth. Throughout the day, there will be various activity stations that will cover a range of topics, such as read alouds, book-inspired baking and ficional sports (Quidditch, anyone?).
For this event, volunteers will be asked to help with the following:
- event set up: decorating the resource center, setting up activity stations
- running activity stations: reading books aloud, leading/refereeing games and baking with the kids
- event clean up: taking down decorations, cleaning up activites stations
This event is perfect for a small group seeking team building opportunities, or just looking to have fun together. We would also welcome individual volunteers who are just looking for an opportunity to make a difference in their community.
