Want to volunteer for a great family-friendly event that supports children with disabilities? Open Doors for Multicultural Families is partnering with Outdoors for All Foundation to bring adaptive cycling, kayaking and more to Lake Sammamish State Park on Saturday, August 10.
This is an inclusive, family fun event created specifically for people with disabilities and their families/friends to be able to come and enjoy all together. Open Doors serves diverse families with loved ones who have developmental disabilities or special health care needs.
There are several areas in which we have opportunities for volunteers. Our largest so far is one-on-one support. This would be someone who has experience working with individuals with disabilities to work with one person at the event and ensure they are having a fun, safe time. The other ones are assistance with bicycling and kayaking. This will be a little more physical, as they will help people prep to do these activities safely (life vest, helmet, etc) keep the bicycles and kayaks in order/bring them in, etc.
Volunteers have the option of being full day or only part time. If full day, they would arrive at 8am and stay until about 4pm. There will be breakfast provided by Panera, with BBQ and Panda Express for lunch. A certificate will be provided to volunteers afterwards.
