A private nonprofit, KCSARC has been on the frontline for over 40 years working directly in sexual assault advocacy, treatment, public policy, and prevention.
The victims and families we help are as diverse as our many communities. 50% of our clients are under the age of 18. KCSARC has specialized programming for the Spanish-speaking community (Dando Voz) and innovative approaches to addressing the intersection of homelessness and sexual assault through Project360.
The Board’s responsibilities are in governance, fundraising and advocacy.
Requirements:
- Interest in addressing the pervasive problem of sexual violence.
- Attendance and participation at regular Board activities, including monthly Board meetings, committee activities as necessary, and the annual Board retreat held in September.
- Interpersonal skills and abilities that complement an engaged and dynamic group.
Currently Seeking:
While not an exhaustive list, KCSARC seeks individuals who bring experience and skills in the following priority areas for the 2020 and 2021 board slates:
- Prior non-profit board experience including board leadership
- Successful board fundraising experience
- Connections to our region’s philanthropic community
- Financial experience in nonprofit, corporate, or governmental senior accounting or finance roles
- Represent the diversity of our community in race, ethnicity and gender identity
Time and Financial Commitment:
- Attend monthly Board meetings and committee meetings as needed.
- Be available for consultation to members of the Board and the Executive Director.
- Advance agency profile and fundraising through one's contacts and networks.
- Represent KCSARC at public functions and agency events.
- Serve as a table captain at the annual fundraising breakfast.
- Contribute to KCSARC as a major donor.
- Serve for a minimum of three years (terms are three years and begin in September; most members serve two terms).
