Description

Fall is back and with it comes salmon spawning season! We’ll be restoring working to restore the forest buffer along the Cedar River by removing blackberry and other invasive species at Ron Regis Park to make room for winter planting. We will also care for plants planted last year to help them grow up to provide shade over the river and support critical habitat to support the recovery of salmon populations.

All ages welcome, and no experience necessary. Tools, gloves, skill-building and snacks are provided, and we can sign off on community service credit requirements.

Time: Saturday, October 12th, 9am-Noon

Address: 1501 Orcas Ave SE, Renton, WA 98059

Where to park: There's a large parking lot centrally-located in the park adjacent to the basketball court and baseball diamonds.

Where to Meet: Meet at the tent set up near the parking lot and basketball court. The meeting spot is easily accessible by foot or bike from the Cedar River Trail, or there is plenty of parking.

What to Bring: Come dressed to work outside (rain or shine) in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (rubber boots, hiking/tennis shoes), long sleeves, long pants, warm layers and rain jacket. We will have a water jug, so please bring a reusable water bottle to refill. Volunteers under the age of 18 should bring a signed youth waiver with them to the event.

To RSVP: Click respond and we will follow up with more information
