Workshop volunteers work in pairs to support the presenters of the annual MLK celebration workshops. Due to COVID-19, this year all workshops will be virtual and held throughout the week leading up to MLK Day (see schedule below and at our website).
In addition to the volunteer role the day of your assigned workshop, before the workshops' start date of 1/12, you will need to organize a run-through with presenters (see capabilities below).
During the workshop, using a script provided, volunteers will:
- Welcome attendees
- Explain the format
- Introduce the presenters
- Monitor questions from participants
- Thank the presenters
- Pitch the workshop evaluations and provide a link
Workshops will be 60-75 minutes in length and will be held:
- Tuesday thru Thursday (January 12-14) at noon, 5pm, and 7pm
- Saturday (January 16) at 10am, noon, 2pm, 4 pm
We will work with your schedule to assign you in teams of two to each workshop.
Volunteers are welcome to moderate more than one workshop.
Workshop volunteer capabilities:
- Experience moderating Zoom events
- Ability to organize questions from attendees into logical sequence and to screen out inappropriate questions
- Ability to introduce presenters and make concluding remarks on camera (script provided)
- Ability to organize and attend a mandatory run-through of workshop transitions with presenters
