White Center Food Bank needs volunteers every weekday morning to pick up food from local grocery stores as part of our Grocery Rescue program. This program prevents food waste and increases the diversity of food we can offer our customers who receive food from the food bank!
To assist our regular weekly volunteers when they are sick or have to miss a shift for any reason, we are looking for substitutes who can help us out! In September, we need a regular Friday morning substitute as we work to find a new regular volunteer. Registration is due a week before the day you want to volunteer. After you register through United Way, you will hear from the Food Bank with a request to complete your volunteer application. The shift starts at 9am, and typically ends by 11:30am or noon. You will go out with an experienced volunteer who knows the route and will go out in a food bank vehicle. You do not have to be able and willing to drive. You must be physically able to lift heavy crates and boxes of food, up to 50+ pounds each.
