Celebrate Trails Day and get Letterboxing!
June 3rd is National Trails Day, and here on Mercer Island we’re going to be celebrating our trails by kicking off this year’s Letterboxing Program and hosting a volunteer event.
What is Letterboxing? It’s a scavenger hunt around Pioneer Park’s SE Quadrant. Follow clues to locate boxes hidden throughout the park, stamp your booklet once you find the clue, and leave your own imprint behind. It’s a great way to explore the park with friends and family!
Volunteers will help us maintain our trails in Pioneer Park through tasks such as spreading mulch, clearing debris off trails, and removing non-native plants.
When: Saturday, June 3rd, 10am-1pm
Where: Pioneer Park SE. Meet at the corner of Island Crest Way and SE 68th St, follow “VOLUNTEER EVENT” signs
What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring a water bottle. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.
