Join us on October 21st for a monthly volunteer opportunity to support Rainer Valley Food Bank. Rainer Valley Food Bank is a low barrier food bank that provides resources and serves individuals seeking food assistance in Seattle, Washington. They provide fresh, healthy, nutritious, and culturally sensitive food to more than 8,000 guests a year!!
- We will be helping Rainer Valley Food Bank by supporting their in service food bank and assisting in site beautification!!
- Volunteer duties will include - In-person shopping: We will welcome about 300 households to shop from 9am-11am with the first half hour of the volunteer session dedicated to set up. Work may include, helping set up distribution, moving boxes of produce, stocking non-perishables shelves, breaking down boxes, helping guest load food items into their bags, greeting guests, sweeping/general clean up Site Beautification Crew: Help create a more maintained and welcoming space for all those who seek services and community here. Work may include, weeding, trimming plants, litter clean up, reorganizing food storage areas, and/or stacking pallets and crates for future use. This role will be more physically engaging, supporting our ongoing programming.
- 2 weeks before the scheduled volunteer shift, we will reach out to place you in a specific role.
This opportunity is hosted by young professionals but all are welcome! By participating you will receive similar opportunities emailed to you bimonthly. Each opportunity supports United Way of King County’s mission to create racially just communities where all people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable.
You will need to wear masks and show proof of vaccination to participate in this opportunity.
