Description

Birthday Dreams recognizes the importance of teamwork. Without teamwork, we could not have brought smiles to over 13,500 homeless children in the Puget Sound area by lifting their spirits and making them feel like they matter. Team building activities should be fun and memorable, and there are few things more memorable than working together to bring joy and a sense of self-worth to children in need. Birthday Dreams offers several volunteer opportunities that double as meaningful team building experiences.

Help create a great birthday party experience for homeless children by making our custom "Pin the Candle on the Cupcake" party game. Other opportunities to help during the session will depend on needs, but may include wrapping gifts, organizing toys, and sorting candy, to name a few.

Get Connected Icon Q: How will you raise awareness of - and reflect on - the role of racial and social justice within the volunteer project?
A: We will discuss the homeless communities we serve, how homelessness effects children and adults of all races and backgrounds, and how providing a birthday party for homeless children allows us to alleviate part of the blanket of stress, worry, depression, and sacrifice that the children and their families experience due to their housing situations. The volunteers will be making the games we give out to go with the birthday parties for the children to play with their guests, this puts the volunteer directly in the path of service in a way that is fun, easily accessible, and creates a personal connection with the way they serve.
Get Connected Icon Volunteers should be between the ages of 4 and 119.
