The kitchen support volunteer works with the kitchen manager at Willows Youth Services Center to provide nutritious and culturally relevant meals to young people who access the services center. Willows Youth Services Center is the only 24-hour enhanced shelter and support for young people aged 18 – 24 in East King County.
Reports To: Manager of Kitchen Services
Volunteer duties
The kitchen support will help with all functions of the kitchen and dining area.
This includes but is not limited to:
Provide a welcoming atmosphere that encourages engagement from participants.
Assist with preparation of food items and beverages.
Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen appliances and ensure their proper storage.
Ensure that work surfaces are clean.
Inventory kitchen pantry and food storage as needed.
Organization of kitchen space, pantry, and dining room.
Interact with clients in a respectful and responsible manner.
Volunteer Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability and willingness to pass a background check.
Proof of Covid Vaccine.
Completed Volunteer Paperwork
Food Handlers Permit (can be completed during first volunteer shift).
Physical demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is regularly required to stand for most of their volunteer shift. In this position, you must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
