Who We Are

Serenity's mission is multi-faceted.  It includes rescue, rehabilitation, education and healing.

Rescue, Rehab and Adoption

After rescue and rehabilitation we work to place our rescued horses into loving permanent homes. We are passionate about providing a natural and focused care plan for each of our resident equines.

 Education

We are also committed to supporting the equine community through our Education Center clinics and courses.  We also support our community by performing welfare checks and helping community horse owners to provide the best care for their horses.

 Healing

We believe that the relationship between humans and horses is a very special one.  Many of our volunteers and others have experienced a special gift of healing when working or visiting the

Background

For over 20 years, Patricia Clark rescued and rehabilitated a variety of animals. In 2007 she formalized SERR, after working with the County on a huge hoarding situation where the owner had 93 horses on 11 acres.

In February of 2008 Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation was formalized with a Board of Directors and Volunteer force capable of caring for the animals. Serenity developed an Education Center in 2011 and currently teaches and practices a number of different holistic healing approaches. In 2013 we have expanded our wellness program to encourage those who are in need of a healing environment to come and work around the horses. We have found the experience to be life-changing for many. In 2015 we launched our Horses as Healers program to support those with life issues including trauma, depression and PTSD.  Our program was recently expanded and there are clinics every month.

What We Do

Rescue Serenity Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation (SERR) is dedicated to the rescue and recovery of horses who are victims of neglect, abuse, abandonment or other forms of cruelty. Horses are evaluated and rehabilitated with the primary focus being on health and behavior first before usability or riding potential. We believe in healing horses from the inside out and then finding a home that is a good match to ensure a successful adoption.  Some rescues cannot be healed and if determined to need euthanasia we make sure the end of their life provides them the dignity and love they have been lacking. SERR works with King County Animal Control (and King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office) to provide information and evidence for prosecution of Animal Cruelty charges.

Education Serenity developed an Education Center in 2011 and currently offers courses in Horse Behavior, Handling, Anatomy, Nutrition, Common Ailments and Treatments. Serenity also utilizes a number of holistic modalities to treat their horses including Chiropractic care, Acupuncture, Reiki, Vibrational Reiki, Massage Therapy and others.

Healing Our Horses as Healers program is focused on healing for humans with difficult life situations, depression, anxiety and PTSD. Clients work with program leaders and the horses to help identify, change and heal. Please visit the web site for more information.
