Who We Are
We are Lake City Seniors, a community partner site of Sound Generations. We are growing a new and exceptionally welcoming intercultural senior center at the Lake City Community Center in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, Hunger Intervention Program, Sea Mar Community Health Clinics and Chinese Information & Service Center.
Sound Generations was founded in 1967 and serves nearly 65,000 older adults, adults with disabilities and those that care for them. We have six community partner sites and ten programs that connect people on their aging journey to various food security, transportation, health and wellness, and assistance services throughout King County.
What We Do
We are inspired and thriving through community engagement, partnerships and volunteers. Our primary mission is to cultivate opportunities for community support and empowerment for older adults in NE Seattle with an emphasis on those who have been historically underserved in our community including immigrants, refugees, people of color, LGBTQ elders, low and very low-income older adults and adults with disabilities.
Our program offers free and low-cost activities (in English, Spanish, Mandarin & Cantonese) and a hot meal to older adults every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am-3pm at the Lake City Community Center. Activities and services include: social work, foot care, an LGBTQ support group, gentle chair yoga (with Spanish interpretation), meditation, Tai Chi (in Mandarin & English), movies, bingo and creative arts classes.
