The Washington West African Center (WAWAC) is actively seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Community Resources Navigator. This crucial role involves providing integral support in navigating community resources, ensuring positive experiences for our community members. As an Assistant Community Resources Navigator, you will work under the guidance of the Community Resources Navigator and Executive Director, contributing to the efficiency of resource acquisition processes.

This position requires an individual with excellent communication skills, a commitment to understanding community needs, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities. Your role will involve assisting community members in navigating opportunities in a value-driven way, minimizing encounters perceived as intimidating or uncomfortable. Additionally, you will contribute to identifying opportunities, advising the Executive Director, and outlining plans for exploring potential resources.

In addition to supporting community members, you will actively promote awareness of available resources through meetings and events. Your assistance in gathering and preparing data on resource utilization will contribute to progress tracking and meeting reporting requirements. Keeping abreast of available community resources and effectively communicating their benefits to the Executive Director and community members will be integral to your responsibilities.

Collaborating with internal and external resource navigators, you will promote teamwork and enhance coordination efforts. Your role is dynamic, requiring flexibility and a willingness to assist in any other duties assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall success of WAWAC's community resource navigation initiatives. The Assistant Community Resources Navigator will play a crucial support role in various responsibilities under the guidance of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Community Resources Navigator. Key areas of assistance include:

● Ensuring community members receive confidential and timely support, contributing to a positive experience in navigating resource acquisition processes.

● Assisting community members in navigating opportunities in a value-driven manner, providing support to alleviate encounters perceived as intimidating or uncomfortable.

● Identifying and communicating opportunities, offering assistance to the Executive Director, and contributing to plans on how such opportunities/resources can be explored, supporting improved navigation processes for enhanced efficiency and continuous improvement.

● Listening to community members' concerns, assisting in troubleshooting barriers, and identifying available benefits, programs, and resources to enhance the health and livelihoods of our community.

● Assisting in the organization and participation in meetings and events aimed at raising awareness among community members about available resources and their potential benefits.

● Aiding in the collection and preparation of data regarding the quality and utilization of resources by community members, ensuring accurate documentation of progress and bottlenecks to meet reporting requirements.

● Contributing to ongoing research to stay abreast of available community resources, aligning with the evolving needs of community members.

● Supporting the effective conveyance of the benefits of identified resources to the Executive Director and community members, fostering organizational growth, and strengthening community connections.

● Collaborating with internal and external resource navigators to promote teamwork and enhance collaboration.

● Assisting the Executive Director and Community Resources Navigator in any additional duties as outlined by the supervisor.

For background checks: You will receive an email from Checkers to complete.

Training: You will have a short orientation first, then begin with your department and supervisor, there may be meetings, in-person etc. you may be asked to attend as part of your tasks/what is needed from the department.
